Basys was selected as one of Ingram’s 2022 Corporate Champions for its demonstration of “exceptional philanthropic leadership as a company.”

Basys demonstrates philanthropic leadership as a company in many ways. Chief among these is the commitment to donate $500 annually, per employee, to a charity of the employee’s choice. Charities include Always and Furever, Bags of Fun KC, Children’s Mercy Big Slick Charity Event, Harvesters, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Operation Breakthrough, Police Athletic League of KCK, Unbound, Wonderscope and Wounded Warriors.

Basys donates more than six figures annually to the organizations mentioned above, plus others that include: KC Pet Project, Heroes for Hospice, The Cure Starts Now, Health Network Foundation, St. John’s Catholic, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Our Little Haven, and Kansas City Children’s Assistance Network.

Other contributions Basys makes to the communities around the Kansas City region include:

• Gold Sponsorship for the Children’s Mercy’s Big Slick Charity Event
• Hosting blood drives – In 2022, Basys employees donated 104 pints of blood to the American Red Cross.
• Participating in an annual canned food drive for Harvesters – The Community Food Network
• Partnering with Bags of Fun KC as an event sponsor, as well as hosting events where BASYS employees volunteer to fill backpacks with high-quality toys and games for local children with life-threatening illnesses.

Basys employees aren’t the only ones who volunteer their help in person. For the last three years, Basys CEO Brad Oddo has been a board member of the Police Athletic League of Kansas City, KS. The PAL of KCK offers youth the opportunity to interact with police officers in a positive setting while participating in academic, cultural, mentoring, and sports programs. Brad places great value on improving relationships between the community and the police.

Oddo attended the Philanthropist of the Year Awards Luncheon at Mission Hills Country Club Dec. 6 to receive the Corporate Champions Award on behalf of Basys.

Ingram’s named Peggy and Terry Dunn the 2022 Philanthropist of the Year. Local Heroes were also recognized, which honors individuals in the Kansas City region for their “exceptional commitment to philanthropy and volunteerism on behalf of nonprofit organizations.”

A complete list of this year’s honorees will be featured in Ingram’s December 2022 Philanthropy edition.
